M is for Memorie. Memories. M is a meaningful letter to me. My name starts with the letter M of course, but it’s the M in memories that matters to me the most. My memories make up my writing. I write memoir.
I am learning that the bulk of my writing happens in the pause, in taking a moment to reflect. To remember. Remembering isn’t just the work of a memoirist, really it’s the work of anybody who is looking for clarity and healing in their own lives. To do so we must take a moment to reflect. And that isn’t always easy.
To remember requires attention. This looking back takes time.
